Our internship at the Smithsonian research center was not fully organized before we came to Panama so this day was the day we had to work on that. We woke up around 6 AM by the jet lag, we are still working on. Around 9 o´clock we left Cardenas Village for the small town Gamboa. It was planned that it would be a 45 minute drive but because of maintenance to one bridge it turned out to be 40 minutes driving and 20 minutes of walking. At the research facility we discovered that the frog research department was one of the newest buildings and had the most high tech technologies of the area. We met Dr. Rigoberto and he showed us the way around the cooled containers, some contained frogs and other contained files, lots of them. He was one of the better English speakers we have met in Panama who are native Panamanians. We went back around 12 and arrived home around 1PM, that afternoon we had to fill in a lot of forms for the internship and we still have to make a payment of 60$ per person. I feel like this is one of the most rare internships available in the world, and Robin and I are very lucky to receive it.
